This is an executive position working with the Nationally Accredited Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department. The Department has eleven (11) diverse divisions that are committed to building gateways that enrich our community through exceptional customer focus.
This position will provide administrative and supervisory support to the Director of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs to ensure that the department functions effectively and efficiently in various aspects of operations and specifically develops and implements the City's recreation al programming to meet citizen needs.
Assists with the management of overall Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department operations, including budget preparation, personnel management and planning. Assumes director's duties during the director's absence. Receives supervision and direction from the Director of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs.
Directly supervises exempt and non-exempt employees, (professional, operations, administration, athletics, aquatics, museum) Works independently exercising considerable judgment and initiative.
Interfaces directly and frequently with City management, community organizations, vendors, media, and the general public. Assist with department's administration and preparation of CIP, including the design process, budget development, contract preparation and bidding procedure. Coordinates annual department special and seasonal events.
Supervises and provides direction and advice to management of the following divisions: athletics, recreation, aquatics, senior and adult programming.
Assists with the planning and development of new parks, recreation or cultural facilities, buildings and related activities with knowledge of construction planning, design and administration.
May supervise other divisions in the absence of assigned supervisor.

Experience: Working knowledge of current principles and practices used in the administration of parks, recreation, and cultural affairs programs and services; applicable state, city and federal regulations/guidelines pertaining to areas of responsiblity; and overall city operations, including budgeting procedures. Excellent communication (verbal and written) organizational, and analytical skills. Five (5) years supervisory experience.
Education/Training: Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation Administration, Leisure Services, Business Management or related field. Master's Degree preferred.
Licenses/Certificates: Valid New Mexico driver's license with acceptable driving record for the past two years is required. CPRD or CPRE designation from the National Parks and Recreation Association is preferred.
Ability To: Ability to effectively supervise and evaluate personnel. Establish and maintain professional effective relationships with external public, vendors, internal management and non-management employees, and City and other government officials. Ability to prepare and maintain records and reports. Knowledge of budget preparation and office management. Ability to work varied hours including evenings and weekends.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
