Monday, August 21st, 2023 There are 3 TestGenius tests that take approximately 30 to 45 minutes each and MUST BE COMPLETED WITHIN 3 DAYS PAST THE CLOSING DATE for this position.
The 3 tests are Alphabetic Filling, Numeric Filing, and Reading Comprehension.

JOB DUTIES ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Supervised by the Library Patron Services Coordinator.
Work is performed under the direction of the Library Patron Services Supervisors, the Library Patron Services Technicians, and the Lead Shelver as determined by work schedules.
Supervision of other employees is not a responsibility of this position.
Shelves, sorts, and files various library materials accurately according to library classification systems (alphabetic, numeric, and alpha-numeric).
A high degree of accuracy is vital.
Reads numbers and letters rapidly and accurately in order to sort and shelve library materials both alphabetically and numerically.
With training, 80-100 items shall be consistently and accurately shelved per hour.
Routinely reads shelve for accuracy, collects in-house materials for usage statistics, locates missing and hold materials, and retrieves materials for library staff or patrons.
Maintains the overall appearance of the shelves by straightening, shifting, edging, and monitoring the condition of library materials, and identifying and re-shelving misplaced items.
Maintains a neat and orderly appearance of the library by straightening chairs, collecting materials from tables, carts, and shelves, and reporting any damaged equipment, furniture or fixtures to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
Maintains good organizational skills and attention to detail.
Performs repetitive shelving.
Works independently, quietly and efficiently, little social interaction.
Adapts to changes in workload when library is busy.
Uses excellent customer service skills to assist patrons in a courteous and respectful manner within scope of training; refers patrons to appropriate personnel.
May assist with emptying the book drop and automated return bins; may assist with inspecting, checking out, or routing materials to the proper locations; may assist with sorting, counting and organizing materials on book carts for shelving.
May assist in the clearing room with discharging library materials, using the automated return system, and monitoring the return system as materials are automatically being discharged and sorted.
May assist with answering the telephone in the clearing room, answering questions appropriate to skill level, and directing calls as appropriate.
May perform other basic duties in patron services, or in other areas of the library or branch library as assigned.
Learns procedures and responsibilities primarily through oral instruction and observation which takes place on-the-job.
Training is hands-on with repetition and reinforcement.
Understands and follows written and/or verbal instructions.
Participates and attends trainings, daily shows, programs, and other projects of the library as required and/or assigned.
Must be available to work a varied schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
Attendance is an essential function of this position.
Complies with Patron Services department and library procedures and policies, and the City guideline, rules, regulations, procedures, and policies.

QUALIFICATIONS This position is subject to the City's Drug- and Alcohol-Free Workplace Program, which includes pre-employment testing, post-accident testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return to duty testing, and follow-up testing.
Background check is required.
This position has the responsibility to participate in and comply with the City's Environmental, Health, and Safety Program.
Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, other City personnel and the public.
Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with co-workers, supervisors, other City personnel and the public on all age levels and cultural backgrounds.
Ability to learn and use library organization systems, including Dewey Decimal Classification, for the purpose of shelving books and locating material in all areas of the library.
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision, within the context of the shelving team environment.
Ability to complete assignments in a timely manner.
Ability to read numbers and letters rapidly and accurately.
Ability to organize, sort, and file alphabetically and numerically.
Ability to communicate and follow instructions, both oral and written, and follow established routines.
Ability to learn to use the tools and equipment listed, including the library's online catalog and automation system and use them effectively to perform assigned duties.
